يخطئ من يظن أن الحضارة تنحصر في المعالم المادية من التقدم التكنولوجي، ومن تيسير الحياة المادية، فإن هذا جانب وهو في الحقيقة جانب مكمّل، وليس هو الجانب الأساسي...
إذ أن الحضارة في حقيقة الأمر تشتمل على عنصرين اثنين: أولاً: القيم الروحية والمبادئ والمثل، ثانياً: التفاعل الحضاري في تغيير وتيسير أسباب الحياة ولذلك الثاني يعتبر مترتباً على الأول، فإذا وجد المضمون الصحيح من المبادئ والقيم والعقائد انعكس هذا في واقع التطبيق العملي تجاه الإنسان، وتجاه ما في هذا الكون، ونعلم جميعاً أن العقيدة الإسلامية الإيمانية من أبرز مزاياها وأكثر فوائدها: أنها تكشف حقيقة الإنسان من نفسه، وأنها توضح لها طريقة علاقته بالله سبحانه وتعالى، وبإخوانه من المؤمنين، وبسائر البشر أجمعين، بل تحدد له علاقته بكل ما في هذا الكون من الأحياء والجمادات، وكيف يتعامل في إطار تصور متكامل يربط الإنسان بهذا الكون، ويحدد موقعه فيه ويربطه ليس بهذه الحياة الدنيا فحسب وإنما بالحياة الأخرى أيضاً.
لكننا نرى أن هذه الحضارات المادية التي خلت من القيم الروحية، والتي لم تستند أصلاً إلى دين، وجعلت قضية المبادئ والأخلاق قضية متغيرة بحسب الإحتياج، سنرى أنها لما خلت من هذا المضمون تحولت إلى وحش كاسر، بل تحولت إلى مرض تعدي قاتل يصيب الإنسانية في كل مناحي الحياة، وعلى كل الأصعدة، ويتأثر بها الرجل والمرأة، والطفل الصغير، والشيخ الكبير كما تتأثر به الصحة، ويتأثر بها الإقتصاد، وتدمّر بها كثير من نواحي الحياة.
