لم تزل الأمة الإسلامية تستمد قوتها من سلوكها الروحيّ، المتمثل في الإيمان العميق بحقائق الغيب. ودرج المسلمون على العناية بالتربية الروحية، وأولوا هذا الركن الركين من الدين الحنيف، وهو الإحسان، عنايةً بالغة، ودوّن الأئمة والصالحون كثيراً من تجاربهم الروحية المستمدة من التعاليم الإلهية، والإرشادات النبوية. ومن أولئك الأئمة الهداة الإمامُ تاج الدين بن عطاء الله السكندريّ، الذي جمع سِفْراً جليلاً من الحِكَم الروحية العالية، اشتهرت به (الحكم العطائية)، وأضحت من أجلّ متون التصوّف النقيّ، وتصدّى لشرحها كثيرٌ من العلماء. ومن أولئك الشرّاح العلامة الشيخ أبو بكر بن محمد الملا آل الواعظ الحنفي الأحسائي المتوفى سنة 1270هـ، حيث صنع تلخيصاً لهذا المتن، وبوّبه على الأبواب، ثم شرحه شرحاً جمعَ فيه خلاصة أربعة شروح لهذا المتن هي: شرح ابن عبَّاد الرُّندي، وشرح الشيخ القُـشَاشي المدني، وشرح الشيخ محمد بن أحمد الأهدل، وشرح الشيخ علي الحجازي. وسمّاه: «سراج الظلم بشرح تلخيص الحكم». فجاء كتاباً نافعاً في بابه، مزداناً بالنقول والفوائد.
