يقدم هذا الكتاب العديد من الأمثلة التي أخذت من مجالات الإدارة العديدة مثل الإنتاج، وإدارة العمليات، والسياسات الإدارية، والسلوك التنظيمي، وإدارة الموارد البشرية، ونظم المعلومات، والتسويق والمحاسبة، والتمويل، وذلك بهدف توضيح التطبيقات المختلفة للبحوث في مجالات الإدارة، وقد تم إضافة تدريبات قصيرة مأخوذة من الدوريات الإدارية إلى كل فصل من فصول الكتاب، وإبراز تأثيرات التقنية على بحوث الإدارة ليتمشى مع التغيرات في ذلك المجال، كما تمت مناقشة تطبيقات برامج الكمبيوتر في مجالات جميع وتحليل البيانات وعرض النتائج في الفصول الخاصة بذلك.
ويوضح الفصل الخاص يصنع القرارات الإدارية، دورة البحث العلمي كإطار شامل لتحليل البيانات الوصفية، وإستخدام البيانات الكمية في إختيار الفروض الإحصائية؛ وهناك حالات لتوضيح مدى فشل الشركات التي لم تهتم بإستخدام البحوث العلمية؛ وقد تم إستخدام البرنامج الإحصائي الشهير SPSS 11.0 في الفصل الخاص بتحليل البيانات.
وتحتوي معظم فصول الكتاب على تطبيقات إدارية للموضوعات التي تمت مناقشتها، بطريقة تركز على إحتياج المدير لفهم طرق البحث، كما تم كذلك توضيح الجوانب الأخلاقية في مجال أخلاقيات البحوث - بحوث الإدارة - وقد تمت كذلك مناقشة تأثير التنوع الثقافي على إجراء البحوث الإدارية، خاصة في مجالات تنمية أدوات القياس - الإستقصاءات - والعينات.
وفي ذلك فائدة عظيمة للطلاب في ظل العولمة، وقد تمت مناقشة حالتين دراسيتين في الفصل الأخير، وتم التركيز في إحدى الحالتين على الحاجة إلى أن يكون المدير والباحث حساسين للتنوع الثقافي، أما الأخرى قد ركزت على توضيح أن القصور في إجراء البحوث قد يؤدي إلى خروج الشركة من السوق، وستساعد المذكرات المختصرة الموضوعة في نهاية الكتاب على تنشيط عقول الطلاب، مما يعاون الأساتذة عند الشرح ويشجعهم على مطالبة الطلاب بإستخدامها في بحوثهم.
وقد تمت مناقشة تلك المصطلحات بطريقة مبسّطة، بعيداً عن تعقيدات العمليات الخاصة بإشتقاق المعادلات الخاصة بتوضيح إشتقاقها، وسيكون ذلك عوناً للطلاب على إجراء البحوث وإستخدام الأساليب الإحصائية المناسبة لها.
