دراسة المخطوطات إذن ليس عملاً تاريخياً بقدر ما هو عمل حياتي مستقبلي، إنه نوع من كسب الثقة بالنفس العربية وحضارتها، وإن المخطوطات تمثل جانباً كبيراً من التراث العربي.
إن الإستفادة من هذا التراث يكون في التعرُّف إليه من خلال مخطوطاتنا العربية، فما زلنا نعرف بعضها، ولا نزال نجهل الكثير منها، نجهل مواطنها، ونجهل ما تضمه من علوم، لذا فمن الواجب التعريف بهذه المخطوطات وفهرستها، والتعرُّف إلى أماكنها، ومن ثم جمع هذه المخطوطات أو مصوراتها، ثم العمل على تحقيق المفيد منها.
