في "حكاية تالا"، يحاول هنري، وهو كاتب مشهور من نيويورك، أن يتكيّف مع موت والدته الفجائيّ وفشل روايته الأخيرة. حياته، التي لطالما كُلّلت بالنجاحات، انهارت فجأة.
يقرّر السفر إلى أمستردام حيث ينغمس في الملذّات والمثالب الدنيوية. لكنّ أمستردام لا تكفيه. يريد المزيد، فيحزم حقائبه ويتّجه إلى سلوفينيا. هناك يقابل تالا، فتاة هوى فائقة الجمال لكن كائدة مثيرة. هي لاجئة فلسطينيّة، تصيب من هنري مقتلاً بحكايتها المأساويّة، وبسلسلة خساراتها المتتالية ومعاناتها: رحلتها المحفوفة بالمخاطر بين تركيا واليونان، وبحثها اليائس عن زوجها بلال، وسقوطها ضحيّة شبكة اتّجار بالبشر.
تسلبه تالا فؤاده فيعدها بالبحث عن زوجها المفقود، لا بل يعاهد نفسه على حماية معشوقته ومصدر إلهامه، من مآسي الحياة. ولكن، إلى أيّ حدّ قد يذهب هنري ليحتفظ بتالا؟ وليحتفظ بها له وحده؟
ثلاث شخصيّات. ثلاثة مسارات. حكاية واحدة. في الميزان أكاذيب وحقيقة، اغتيال وأمان، حرب وصراع مقابل السلام. عندما يخسر من اعتاد الربح طويلاً كلّ ما يملك، هل يتحوّل إلى ضحيّة أم إلى جلّاد؟
