تسعى هذه الدراسة إلقاء ضوء كاشف على لون خاص من الفولكلور البغدادي عن طريق الكتب التي طبعها والمقالات التي نشرتها له أمهات صحف بغداد، ثم هذا الحماس المنظم والجهود المستمرة في هذا السبيل! فله جزيل الشكر، وجدير بشبابنا المثقف وفنانينا الإقتداء بالأستاذ الوردي للحفاظ على تراثنا الشعبي الحي وعلى الفن العراقي الأصيل..
وهذه الدراسة المبكرة التي نقدمها للقراء المحترمين مثل آخر وليس الأخير على جهود الوردي في هذا الشأن، إذ ألقى ضوءاً كاشفاً على لون خاص من الفولكلور العراقي وهو الطقوس الدينية وما يتخللها من حركات وأقول وأناشيد وأغاني في احتفالات التكايا ومحافل الذكر في العراق. وفي المدخل لهذا العالم المهاب الجليل أو ما أسماه المؤلف الفاصل "التمهيد" أبدى ملاحظة دقيقة وجيدة لا تصدر إلا من أمثاله متذوقة الأنغام ومعرفة مناسبة المقام، فقال "أن لكل نغم طبيعة خاصة، فإذا كانت الحال كذلك يمكن عندئذ معرفة ما يناسب كل احتفال من أنغام" وضرب مثلاً حياً باحتفال المواطنين بميلاد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وباحتفالهم بوفاته. وجعل هذا التمهيد الجيد بمثابة مقدمة أيضاً لهذا البحث وحصرها في عشرين باباً جعل أوله محافل الذكر..
وقد رسم المؤلف الفاصل صوراً رائعة لهذه الأجواء العبقة، الساخرة، وصف الخبير الفنان الذي يصور الحركات والسكنات ويسجل الأنغام والألحان وقد يذكر الأشعار التي تغني أو تتلى مع مقامها العراقي سواء باللغة الفصحى أو اللغة العامية، وبحث الأستاذ هذا بحث ميداني واقعي إذ زار التكايا وعاش مع المحتفين وأخذ الكثير عنهم، مما تراه مثبتاً في هذه الدراسة التي بين يديك.
