يتناول الكتاب المفاهيم الأساسية للمشروعات الإقتصادية الباب الأول: يشتمل على خمسة فصول، تناولت المكاسب الناجمة عن التجارة، وعمليات التبادل، ونفقة المعاملات، ودراسة المنظم وسلوكه، ونظرية حقوق الملكية، وانتهى هذا الباب بدراسة النظريات التي تحكم العلاقة بين الموكل والوكيل.
أما الباب الثاني للكتاب وعنوانه "هيكل المنظمات الإقتصادية" فيتناول في الفصول من السادس حتى الثاني عشر عديداً من الأشكال التنظيمية للمشروعات الإقتصادية المتنوعة، بالإضافة إلى تناول أحد الموضوعات الساخنة المطروحة على ساحة النقاش، وهو موضوع حاكمية المنشاة، ثم دراسة المشروعات التعاونية بصورها المختلفة، وكذلك المشروع الذي لا يهدف للربح والمشروع الخيري، واختتم بفصل تناول التطور والتنظيم الإقتصادي.
والباب الثالث يتناول دور الدولة، في مواجهة المنظمات الإقتصادية المختلفة، والمناهج التي تحكم الإقتصاد المؤسسي الجديد وعلاقته بالسياسة العامة للدولة ثم تعرض الكتاب للجدل الدائر حول الملكية العامة والملكية الخاصة للمشروعات، والإتجاه الحديث للعودة مرة أخرى للمشروع الخاص من خلال ما اصطلح على تسميته "برامج الخصخصة".
وفي الفصل الخاص بالتنظيم الإقتصادي وهيكل المشروع، دراسة مشكلة الإحتكارات الطبيعية وكيفية تخصيص حق الإمتياز لتشغيل المشروع، وغير ذلك من قضايا مرتبطة بإقتصاديات المشروع.
