يشكل كتاب "الربيع العربي ومستقبل التحولات" لمؤلفه الناشط الحقوقي الأستاذ عبد النبي العكري قراءة في المشهد السياسي للبحرين في الآونة الأخيرة، ويسلط الضوء على ما دعت إليه مجموعة الفيسبوك التي أطلقت على نفسها "ثورة البحرين" ودعوتها البحرنيين إلى التظاهر والإحتجاج في 14 شباط (فبراير) 2011، وكيف تعاملت السلطات البحرينية مع الحراك الشعبي المدني في "دوار اللؤلؤة" ومطالب الإحتجاجات القائمة، والإعتراض على شرعية الميثاق أو شرعية الدستور والمطالبة بإعادة النظر بهما لاستكمال المسار نحو الديمقراطية.
وفي هذا السياق ينطلق المؤلف في توصيفه لحركة الإحتجاج البحرينية وردود الفعل إزاءها والتداخلات الإقليمية التي اشتبكت فيها –من دون أن ينسى التقييمات الحقوقية، وخصوصاً للجنة محمود شريف البسيوني، التي أكدت على مشروعية بعض المطالب، وانتقدت العنف الذي تسبب في مواجهتها، ولكنه يزيد عليها من تجربته العملية باستعراض الخلفية الفكرية للصراع، ففي حين هناك من يريد أن يعطيه صبغة طائفية – إقليمية، بإنسابه إلى الشيعة وإيران من خلفهم، هناك من يحاول أن يعطيه طابعاً سياسيا يتعلق بأزمة الحكم في البحرين...
ومهما يكن من أمر فإن هذا الكتاب يبحث عن إيجاد مخرج كل سياسي للأزمة القائمة فيعرض للتناقضات داخل نظام الحكم، والأسباب التي دعت للثورة، والتدخلات الخارجية في إطار الصراع الطائفي للمنطقة ويضعها على بساط البحث والنقاش خصوصاً وأن الحال وصل إلى طريق مسدود فلا الحكومة قادرة على إخماد الحركة الشعبية الإحتجاجية، ولا المعارضة قادرة على فرض، كامل ما تريده على الحكومة في اتجاه الإصلاح وبناء دولة تراعي مصالح جميع فئات المجتمع وتعبر عن طموحاتهم في المشاركة في بناء الوطن، ومن هنا تأتي أهمية الكتاب.
