في هذا الكتاب يجمع لنا الأديب اللبناني "مارون عبود" درراً من نتاج وآثار الأديب اللبناني "أديب اسحق" يضمها في كتاب سماه "الدَرر- مقدمة تحليليلة بقلم مارون عبود"- فكان هذا العنوان وصفاً لمسنى معنىً ومضموناً، عبَر عنه مارون عبود بقوله كان اديب اسحق "سامي المولد والمربى، لبناني المنشأ، مصري الهوي، عربي النزعة، كاتب نضال (...)". وكان أديب اسحق "كانت سياسي مناضل ومن دعاة حرية الفكر وأحد رسلها المبكرين في الشرق العربي، وهو ممن يؤمنون بالعقل، وقد ظهرت مواهبه الخطابية في جمعيات بيروت مثل "زهرة الآداب" و"شمس البر" و"زهرة الإحسان"، أما من حيث كونه شاعراً "فهو في نثره اشعر منه في شعره، وإن كان فياض القريحة "عفو الطبع"، نقرأ مما قاله في سجنه من قصيدة بعث بها إلى محمد سلطان باشا رئيس مجلس النواب المصري: أمولاي هذا نظم حر وتلوه، كلام سجين أو ثقته المآثر/ أتوه بنكر وهو للعرف مرتج، و أجازوه بالخذلان وهو مناصر/ أيبعد ذو فضل، ويدين منافق، ويسجن وافٍ، حين يطلق عادر.
يضم هذا الكتاب خطب ومحطات كثيرة في حياة أديب اسحق تتناول مراحل مختلفة من تاريخ الأمة العربية، كان له موقفاً سجل من خلاله بصمة مشرفة وهي: الحرية، التعصب والتساهل، الأمة والوطن، حركة الأفكار، الإستقلال والتابعية إلى آخر ذلك من مقالات، وخطب، وأفكار...
