وتُظهر كتب التاريخ أن كثيراً من العلوم ومن لا علم لهم تأثروا بهذه المعتقدات ولعل هذا دفع كثيراً من العلماء إلى التصدي لهذه الأفكار، كما نجد الإمام السنوسي رحمه الله تعالى كذلك أفرد في ذلك عقيدة سماها أم البراهين وهي عظيمة الشأن جليلة الفائدة يشهد لها العلماء.
وكتابنا هذه عبارة عن حواشي دقيقة ونوادر رشيقة أفادها العالم العلامة الشيخ حسين النماوي المتوفى سنة 1060هـ على شرح الهدهدي للعقيدة السنوسية.
