ينطلق الباحث في هذا الكتاب من مفهوم (المجتمع الواحد) الذي تسير نحوه المجتمعات، باحثاً عن الجوامع المزيلة لعوائق هذه المسيرة، ليصل إلى ضرورة التطابق بين النظام الكوني العام والنظام الإجتماعي البشري، من خلال التقاطعات بين المجتمعات البشرية قديماً وحديثاً، مع جزمه بأن النفس البشرية توحِّدها قيمٌ تحكم سلوكها وتفكيرها، فيذكر أمثله تشابهت عند الأمم كفكرة "المخلص، والخلود"، دون إغفال العوامل البيئية والإجتماعية، ليكشف التكامل والتنظيم في الكون والإنسان... كما يبين أنَّ الحياة ذات خطّين: أحدهما: تصاعدي يبدأ من الماضي ليصل إلى الحاضر ثم يتجاوزه إلى المستقبل، والآخر: دائري، يصل المستقبل بالماضي أو يقود إليه، وبهذا يعرِّف النظام والفوضى، وأن كلاهما ينتج الآخر.
وهذا يدفع إلى البحث عن الكفر المحقق للتوازن والروابط بين المتنافرات أو التفسير المستند إلى الحقائق لا إلى النظريات، وليس من مهامه أن ينفي الشر، وإن كان يقدم الحلول فيكشف المرضَ ويضع العلاجَ، فهو فكر يجعل من الماضي دافعاً ومحرِّكاً للمستقبل، مستفيداً من نسبية الزمان والمكان والمعاني.
