بدءاً من الغلاف وانتهاءً بالقصائد، تبدو الكتابة في تجربة الشاعر "محمد السناني" تحريراً للواقع من أقنعته، وفي محاولة التجريد هذه تظهر إمكانيات الشعر وقدرته على نزع الأقنعة بلطف كي لا يزيد الواقع تشوهاً، من هنا يمكن تلمس ما طرحته ذائقته الفنية الابداعية في "قصائد الثكنة المظلمة" التي تشي بالتنوع ونضج التجربة.
في قصيدة بعنوان "في بلادي" يقول الشاعر: "في بلادي/ يقف الظل على ساقيه وحيداً/ ثم يمشي دون صاحب/ في بلادي/ يكتب الشاعر سطراً/ في مديح الريح كي تخيفه/ عن عين المراقب/ (...)/ في بلادي/ يصبح الهامش متناً/ يصبح المتن سراباُ وخرائب/ في بلادي/ يكمل اللا شيء معنىً جاهزاً/ دون معنىً وتجارب (...)/ في بلادي/ دائماً باسم بلادي/ يكتب الحاضر فينا/ باسم: غائب!!".
هي صور شعرية ضاجة بالمعاني وغنية بمقوماتها الفنية والجمالية، رغم لغة الترميز أحياناً التي يتبناها الشاعر في مجاميعه الشعرية هذه.
يضم الكتاب ما يقارب الخمسون قصيدة تنوعت ما بين شعر التفعيلة والشعر العربي الحديث وقصيدة النثر، نذكر من العناوين: "حمولة الكلمات"، "البقية الباقة"، "أنت والبيت القديم"، "نردُ الحقيقة"، "رسائل لن تصل أبداً".... الخ.
