هذه إضاءات تأملية في موضوع النصّ النقدي، وما يتعلّق بالمفهوم، وكيفية تشكّله في ذهن المبدع، ونظرة أهل المذاهب النقدية لموضوع النصّ، ومسألة القراءة والتلقّي ومدى إسهامها في تشكيل الوعي بقيمة النص، وحدود أيّ نصّ من زاوية مبدعه، ومن زاوية متلقيه أيضاً.
فالنصّ كائن لغويّ يحمل في طياته عناصر صوتية وصرفية وتركيبية ودلالية تنتظم جميعاً في بنية محكومة بقواعد التركيب، ويرى الأزهر الزناد أن "النص نسيج من الكلمات يترابط بعضها ببعض، وهذه الخيوط تجمع عناصره المختلفة والمتباعدة في كل واحد".
في حين يرى د. حاتم الصكر أن "النص من حيث هو ملفوظ يبرز للعيان جزء يسير منه هو شكله الصوتي، أما فروعه فتمثل الجزء الخفي منه".
وقد تعددت المداخل لتعريف النص، فالبنيويون يرون النص أنه نسيج عنكبوتي تذوب الذات وسطه وتضيع فيه، والسيميوطيقيون يرونه مجموعة من العناصر المكوّنة تتألف وتُنَسّق طبقاً لقوانين محددة، واللسانيون يعرّفونه بأنه مُدَوّنة لغوية، وإطار لتوزيع الوحدات المكوِّنة لهذه المقولة.
