آثرنا أن ننقل إلى العربية هذا المؤلف الذي وضعه السيد هـ.ي.ديل ميديكو وهو جزء من كتاب له تحت عنوان "التوراة الكنعانية" يتضمن ترجمة اللوحات الفخارية التي عثرت عليها بعثة السيد شيفر في مدينة أوغاريت القديمة (حالياً رأس شمرا) على بعد اثني عشر كيلومتراً شمالي مدينة اللاذقية.
تبدأ النصوص الخاصة بأخبار الملك الكبير في قلب أزمات البلاد وبالتالي أزمات العاهل الكنعاني أنه من أتابع الإله "إيل" الذي كان مسيطراً في طقوسه وقتئذ على معظم البلاد الكنعانية ما عدا قسماً يسيراً من شمالي فلسطين تلك المنطقة المجاورة لمملكة ابن داغون (دمشق) حيث كان الشعب من أتباع الإله "بعل".
وتتضمن النصوص ثلاث شخصيات اعتبارية كبرى وهي الشعب، الملك والآلهة. الشعب المتفاعل مع بعضه ومع بيئته والملك ابن الآلهة وقاضي الشعب والآلهة التي تمثل بوضوح روح المجتمع وتحركاته الحضارية في مختلف الاتجاهات.
