يسرد هذا الكتاب الذكريات والأحداث الّتي عاشها المؤلف "الدكتور عاصم الشهابي"، أستاذ الميكروبات الطبيّة في كليّة الطبّ بالجامعة الأردنيّة، والّتي نحسب أنّ فيها خبرةً وتجربةً تفيد القارئ؛ والكتاب لا يعني يسرد سيرة المؤلّف الشخصيّة بالتفصيل، بل يتحدّث من أهمّ المراحل التي مرّ بها خلال دراسته الجامعيّة وممارسته العمل الأكاديميّ داخل الوطن وخارجه، وخلال أسفاره الكثيرة في شتّى بلاد العالم طوال ستّين عاماً خلت.
وفي بعض المواضع في الكتاب، يذكر المؤلّف تفصيلاتٍ تاريخيّة وجماليّة وحياتيّة لبلدانٍ عاش فيها أو زارها يغرض توضيح بعض الأحداث الهامّة فيها، وتجلية الواقع الّذي تعيشه شعوبها، والّذي تغيّر بمرور الزمن.
ويقدّم الكتاب ذاكرةً ومسيرةً حياةٍ شخص اختار مهنته مصمّماً على أن يكون أكاديميّاً وباحثاً، وعلى أن يمارس مهنته المخبريّة في تخصّصه بالميكروبات الطبيّة، ويبيّن الكتاب بأنّ كلّ فردٍ قادرٌ على أن يعمل وينجح ويبدع في مجاله إذا اجتهد وعرف كيف يتعامل مع الآخرين، شريطة أن يكون إيجابياً في مواقفه تجاه الأحداث والناس.
