شكلت الموشحات تطوراً مهما في أوزان الشعر العربي، ذلك أنه بعد أن وضع الخليل (المتوفى سنة 170هـ/786م) بحوره الخمسة عشر، تامة ومجزوءة، لم يزد أحد عليها إلا ما أضافه الأخفش، حيث ألحق بأعاريض الخليل بحر المحدث أو المتدارك أو الخبب، فأصبحت بحور الشعر ستة عشر وزناً، وهي المعروفة، وبذلك اكتمل عقدها، ولم يستطع أحد أن يزيد عليها شيئاً، أو أن يخرج على هذه البحور التي استنبطت من العشر الجاهلي، وقد حاول أبو العتاهية أن يجدد في الوزان، وذلك بتطعيمها ببعض الأوزان الأعجمية، ولكنه لم ينجح في ذلك، ولمي قلده أحد فيها، لبعدها عن الذوق العربي العام، وعن الإيقاعات اللحنية المألوفة، إلى أن ابتكرت الموشحات فكانت الخطوة الجريئة الأولى على خطى التجديد في أوزان العشر العربي وقوافيه، والخروج على ما درج عليه السابقون، وهي لا تزال تشكل مادة غنية ومغرية للبحث، ولا تزال تتكشف من حين لآخر جوانب وضاءة من هذا الفن الذي اجتمعت له عناصر الأصالة والتجديد، وتجسدت فيه عبقرية واضعها وطلاوة حياة الأندلس، وعذوبتها، وغنائية مجتمعها، وأخيلة أصحابها وإحساسهم بالحياة والحب والشغف ومجال طبيعة بلدهم وسحرها. فما هي الموشحات؟ وكيف نشأت وتطورت؟ وكيف تتركب وما علاقتها بالأوزان الخليلية، وكيف أثرت وتأثرت ببيئتها وبالأدب والعشر والغربي عموماً؟؟ وما هي أهم أغراضها؟ ومن هم أشهر الوشاحين؟ وللإجابة عن هذه التساؤلات، سوف نتناول الموشحات، درساً وشرحاً، انطلاقاً من التعريف بها وبسبب تسميتها، وبنشأتها مروراً بتركيبها، وأوزانها وقوافيها وأغراضها وأهم الوشاحين، وصولاً إلى أثرها في الشعر والأدب العربي والأوروبي عموماً.
