"روضة العقلاء ونزهة الفضلاء" كتاب في الوعظ والتذكير، بين فيه مؤلفه ما يحسن للعاقل استعماله من الخصال المحمودة ويقبح إتيانه من الخلال المذمومة، كما وضمنه فنون الأخبار وأنواع الأشعار مذكراً قارئ كتابه بلزوم العقل والامتناع عن المزاح الغير مجدي، وبعمل الخير وبصنوف هذا العمل. كنا ويحدث في فصل منه لزوم الصمت وحفظ اللسان وعن فوائد التواضع ومجانية الكبر وعن صفات الأحمق والجاهر، وعن وجوب الابتعاد عن التجسس وسوء الظن ومجانبة الحرص للعاقل وصفة الكريم واللئيم واستحباب قبول الاعتذار من المعتذر كما وتدفق عند مسألة لزوم الحكم عند الأذى، لزوم القناعة... وشرح وصية الخطاب بن المعلى المخزومي، وفي مرحلة لاحقة ذكر بلزم الزجر عن تهاجر المسلمين كافة، وحث على لزوم ذكر الموت وتقديم الطاعات.
كتاب في الوعظ والتذكير، فقد حوى الكتاب ما يحتاجه العقلاء، ويفوق العالم به أقرانه، ويكون النديم في الخلوات والمؤنس في الفلوات، بين فيه ما يحسن للعاقل إستعماله من الخصال المحمودة ويقبح به إتيانه من الخلال المذمومة، حاويا لفنون الأخبار وأنواع الأشعار مذكرا بالحث على لزوم العقل وإصلاح الرائد وما أبيح من المزاح للمرء وما لم يبح وذكر إئتلاف الناس وإختلافهم والحث على صنوف الخير. وقد تم تحقيق وشرح المسائل الغامضة زيادة في الفائدة.
