إنّ الأساس الذي يقوم عليه هذا الكتاب هو: أنّ للإنسان علاقات بالعالم الذي يعيش فيه، وهذا ممّا لا ريب فيه عند كلّ المذاهب الإسلامية والأديان السماوية.
وأنّ الشريعة الإسلامية بما تمثّله من (حلال وحرام) جاءت لتنظّم حياته في علاقاته الأربعة: بالله، ونفسه، والمجتمع، والبيئة؛ وهذا يحتّم على كل فقيه وباحث في التقريب أن ينظر في الحلال والحرام، لكي يكتشف نوع تلك العلاقات، فإنّها لا تنتظم في عقد واحد إلا بالنظر في (الحلال والحرام) الذي ورد في روايات المذاهب الأخرى، وكيفية الإستدلال بها على الأحكام الشرعية.
فمن هاهنا سعى هذا الكتاب عبر دراسته المقارنة إلى إعادة التوازن الذي فقده جيلنا المعاصر إثر ما تعرّض له من صدمات قطعت أوصال تلك العلاقات، وفصلت بين أوشاجها، فأدّى به الأمر إلى مسخ لشخصيته الإسلامية، وتشويه لحضارته الإنسانية؛ جزاء عواصف هوجاء تستهدف الإسلام وأهله.
