لذلك فهو عندما يرد اليه القانون الامريكي الذي أصدرته الولايات المتحدة بعنوان قانون التحرر من الإضطهاد الديني تتداعى لديه أوضاع وتاريخ وعقائد وتصير هي مايقوده في مجالات البحث العلمي وفي التفتيش عن الزوايا والأركان التي تخلق فيها هذا القانون. فينظر في الدور السياسي وسوابقه التاريخية، ثم ينظر في دور اليهود ودور جماعات البروتستانات، وتحركه ثقافته السياسية الإجتماعية إلى تفهم وجود حركة جماعات الضغط هناك.
ونحن عندما ننظر في تاريخ مصر الحديث ونتابع حركة ويصا واصف ومرقص حنا وغيرهم من بداية القرن العشرين، ونقرأسمير مرقس الآن في هذا الكتاب وفي غيره، عندما افعل انا ذلك اقول، هذا الرجل أنا اعرف أباءه،ـ إندمجوا في وطنهم وتوحدوا به وأدركوا الصالح الوطني العام، وربحت تجارتهم بما أرسوا من أسس واقعية لمبدأ المواطنة الذي ينسبغ على المصريين جميعاً ويثبت الأحقية في المساومة في الحقوق والواجبات والمشاركة في الشؤون العامة.
