واجه محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم طيلة فترة نبوّته أنشطة معادية كثيرة، معلنة وخفيّة، أستهدفته وأستهدفت أتباعه وأقاربه واتخذت أشكالاً مختلفة؛ ومرّ صراعه مع أعدائه بمراحل عديدة، وعرف أحداثاً متنوعة، واستطاع أعداؤه أن ينتصروا عليه في عدة معارك ومواجهات، وآذوه في مناسبات عديدة ونالوا من أتباعه ومن آل بيته، علماً بأن أعداء محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم لم يمثلوا مجموعة واحدة، وإنما كانوا مجموعات كثيرة متفاوتة القوة ظهرت في أزمنة مختلفة ونشطت في أماكن جغرافية متباعدة، وقد تحرك أعداؤه ضده فرادى وجماعات، وكانوا أنفاراً قلائل حيناً، وجيوشاً جرّارة حيناً آخر.
كانت حركة معاداة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم بعدة معطيات تتصل بخصائص الجزيرة وخصائص نبوّة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم نفسه، كما كانت لها تأثيرات كبيرة مسّت جوانب مختلفة من دينه ومجتمعه، وقد واجه محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم في هذا السياق، مشاق، وصعوبات جمّة وخاص مواجهات عديدة، قارب بعضها أن يكون حاسماً ومصيرياً فعلاً، لكن قومه لم يضيّعوه وكأن نبياً وقائداً بينهم، وتبنى جزءاً كبيراً من تراث قومه وتصالح معهم.
لم يستأثر موضوع "أعداء محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم زمن النبوّة" يبحث مستقلّ على ما يتبيّن من المراجع والدراسات الخاصة بالسيرة النبوية عموماً؛ لذلك ينصب هذا العمل على تحديد أعداء محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم بأقصى التفاصيل، وذكر ما أمكن من حيثياتهم، وتقصّي الأسباب ولغايات التي دفعتهم إلى التحرّك، وذكر مختلف الأنشطة التي قاموا بها ضده وضد أتباعه، مكتفياً بدراسة هؤلاء الأعداء في التاريخ الفعلي، الحقيقي، وليس في الخوارق والأساطير التي حفل بها المخيال الإسلامي.
