أن ترى شاعراً يكتب عن الحب وعن الوطن وعن الطبيعة فهذا أمر تقع عليه في مجموعات شعرية عديدة؛ أما أن تقع على شعر يتحدث عن المرض والألم فهذا ما عبَر عنه الشاعر "محمد البكري القرني" في "تفاحة السرطان" وهو يخوض عبر صفحاته وما بين سطوره معركة شرسة تتخبطها الآلام والإرتقاب والهزيمة والنصر مع السرطان فيثجو لنا بترنيمات حزينة معبَرة عن مدى عمق الألم الذي يتشارك به مع مرضى السرطان وكأنه يعيش ما بداخلهم من معاناة وترقب لمجهول عنوانه الموت.
في قصيدته المعنونة (تفاحة السرطان) يقول الشاعر: "في مدرسة السرطان/ طلاب يخنقهم الشغب/ يملئهم الغضب/ حين يخمد مكانه/ تفاحات فاسدة في زوايا الفصول/ تفاحة الدم/ وتفاحة الثدي/ وتفاحة القولون/ وتفاحة الكبد/ وتفاحة العظام/ وتفاحة الخناجر/ سيرفع الأطباء فصلهم قريباً".
