والكتاب يتناول محورين، يبحثان في أهم وأكبر عامل حاسم في تاريخ الثقافة السعودية والمحوران هما: (محور تشكل التدين السعودي) : وفي هذا المحور تناول المؤلف ما يمكن أن يندرج تحت مسببات تشكل عقلية الديني وتشكيلها في المملكة العربية السعودية، والمحور الثاني (محور تحول التدين السعودي). وفي هذا المحور أيضاً حاول المؤلف مقاربة أهم مسببات التحول، والتطور الذي طرأ على التدين السعودي عبر مراحل التاريخ السياسي للبلد. بحكم تماس الفكرتين الدينية والسياسية في المشهد العام الثقافي السعودي.
