Ray Douglas Bradbury (August 22, 1920 – June 5, 2012) was an American fantasy, science fiction, horror and mystery fiction writer.
Best known for his dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451 (1953) and for the science fiction and horror stories gathered together as The Martian Chronicles (1950) and The Illustrated Man (1951), Bradbury was one of the most celebrated 20th-century American writers.
Many of Bradbury's works have been adapted into comic books, television shows and films

أنت تسأل، ما الذي تعلّمنا إياه الكتابة؟
أولاً، وقبل أي شيء، إنها تُذكرنا بأننا أحياء، وأن الحياة هدية، وامتياز، وليست حقاً. يجب علينا أن نستحق الحياة بمجرد أن نحصل عليها. الحياة تطلب أن نردَّ لها الجميل لأنها منحتنا الحركة. وحيث أن الفن الذي نصنعه لا يستطيع، كما نتمنى، أن ينقذنا من الحروب، والحرمان، والحسد، والجشع، والشيخوخة، والموت. إلا أنه يستطيع أن يبعثنا في خضم ذلك كله.
ثانياً، الكتابة منجاة؛ أيُّ فن، أيُّ عمل جيّد، هو بالتأكيد منجاة. عدم الكتابة بالنسبة لكثيرين منا، يعني الموت.
يجب علينا أن نتسلّح كل يوم، مع أننا نعرف – على الأرجح – بأن هذه الحرب لا يمكن الانتصار فيها تماماً. ولكن علينا أن نحارب، حتى لو كان ذلك لجولةٍ صغيرة. إنّ أقلّ جهد تبذله للفوز يعني، في نهاية اليوم، شكلاً من أشكال الانتصار.
على غرار كتاب «الزِنْ في فن الرماية» للمؤلف يوجين هيرجل، يكتب راي برادبيري «الزِّنْ في فن الكتابة»، وما علينا سوى فهم العلاقة بين فن الرماية والكتابة، لقد اختار برادبيري عنوان هذا الكتاب، لمفعوله الصادم.. ولكن، ما علاقة العنوان ببوذية (زِنْ)، وما علاقتها بالكتابة؟ وما علاقتها بالمؤلف؟ بل والأهم ما علاقتها بك أنت؟
هذا ما سنكتشفه معاً عند قرائتنا هذا الكتاب، إذا ما أردنا معرفة أسرار الكتابة!!
تُرجم هذا الكتاب إلى اللغة العربية، من قبل مجموعة من المترجمين المتطوّعين ضمن مشروع تكوين للكتابة الإبداعية. وقد تنازل المشروع، بالإضافة إلى الناشر، عن حقوقهم الماديّة الصافية من مبيعات هذا الكتاب، لصالح تعليم طفل.
