يدل عنوان هذا الكتاب "365 قصة من الكتاب المقدس لكل الأعمار" على أن القصص الموجودة فيه مشتقة من الكتاب المقدس الذي هو بحد ذاته أشبه بمكتبة كاملة. فهو يحتوي على ستة وستين كتاباً في التاريخ والشعر والرسائل وغيرها، اشترك في كتابتها عدد من الاشخاص عبر مئات السنين.
وهو يقسم إلى قسمين رئيسيين: العهد القديم، ولغته الأصلية العبرية، والعهد الجديد ولغته الأصلية اليونانية، وهي اللغة التي كانت مفهومة لدى سكان الامبراطورية الرومانية. وحيث أن كتاباً كهذا من الصعب أن يشتمل على كل ما جاء في الكتاب المقدس، لذا فضل المؤلف أن يختار منه أكثر القصص متعة وتشويقاً بدءاً من الخلق وانتهاءً بالسماء الجديدة والأرض الجديدة في سفر الرؤيا.
ومع أن الكتاب المقدس يحتوي ظاهرياً على خليط مدهش من أنواع مختلفة من الكتابات، فأجزاؤه المتفرقة تتناسب كما لو أنها قطع مجزأة تكوِّن صورة كاملة ليقرأه ويفهمه الناشئة. صيغت القصص المختارة في هذا الكتاب بأسلوب معبر يعرّف الأولاد والناشئة على شخصيات كثيرة مهمة. وُضعت رسوم "جون هابسوم" خصيصاً لهذا الكتاب، وهي ليست فقط جذابة، إنما تنقل محتويات ومشاعر القصة، وقد اختيرت باعتناء لتكون دقيقة وصحية تتناسب مع محتويات الكتاب المقدس.
