وموضوع إدارة المزارع يعتبر علماً لأننا نحاول في هذا الموضوع تطبيق القوانين والمبادئ العامة في الإقتصاد على مزرعة معينة، ويمكن إعتبار موضوع إدارة المزارع فناً أيضاً أي أن لهذا الموضوع وجهاً فنياً.
والمقصود بالفن هنا الكفاءة بالمعنى الجسمي والعقلي حيث يستطيع كثير من الفلاحين أن يؤدوا واجباتهم بطريقة أمهر أو أكثر كفاءة وأسرع وأسهل من غيرهم، وكمثال على الناحية الفنية في الإدارة نذكر أن استخدام العمال، إذا كان يتم بكفاءة عالية فإنه يؤدي إلى توفير الكثير من الوقت والجهد.
