هذا الكتاب بيان للأسس التي ينبني عليها السلوك حتى يكون صاعداً بالإنسان نحو الكمال الذي شأنه أن يكون له : فرداً ، ومجتمعاً . ومصدر هذا البيان هو محاولة مؤلفه " محمد ناصر " تطبيق نهج العقل في الإدراك ، فجاء البحث تأصيلياً صرفاً ، من خلال السير مع العقل في نهجه ، واستنطاقه بما يملي به : إمّا باستقلالٍ ، وإما بمعونة الحس الظاهر أو الباطن ، ويعزو المؤلف السبب في اعتماد طريقة التأصيل ، والإعراض عن محاولة العرض والنقد ؛ " هو أن كل محاولة مخالفة أو مضادة لما يقضي به العقل : ترجع في حقيقتها إلى الإخلال بمعايير العقل في الحكم . وكلّ تشكيك أو رفض لقضية أولية من قضاياه ، ينشأ من الغفلة عن الحدود الوسطى التي تربط بين طرفيها " ، ومن هنا فلن يجد القارىء قولاً منقولاً ، أو استشهاداً مأخوذاً ، أو نقداً مباشراً ، بل بناءً مستقلاً ، يمسك أوله بآخره ، مكتفياً بذاته ، وهو الشيء الذي يميز هذا الكتاب عن كتب أخرى اعتمدت النقل بدل العقل .
