قد شكل موضوع السرديات خطوة كبير في تطور النثر في العصر الحديث، وذلك لتطور الحياة الأدبية، وكثيرة النتاجات النثرية، وإتساع نطاق الكتاب والأدباء، وتشعب الموضوعات التي كتبوا فيها، حتى حوت جميع نواحي الحياة العامة والخاصة.
والرواية من النتاجات النثرية التي واكبت التطور بشكل كبير، لذلك تناولها النقاد في دراساتهم النقدية والباحثين في دراساتهم المعمقة، مما زاد من عناية الروائيين في تجويد رواياتهم وإتساع الموضوعات التي كتبوا فيها، ومن هؤلاء الروائيين الروائي (سليم مطر) وروايته مجال البحث (امرأة القارورة).
نشرت سنة 2010 ويبلغ عدد صفحاتها 151 صفحة وهي من الحجم المتوسط وتعد من الروايات التي وصلت ذروة الإغتراف من التراث العراقي القديم في محاولة لإعادة تشكيله في ضوء معطيات جمالية وأسلوبية ودلالية جديدة.
إستناد هذه الرواية على التاريخ العراقي القديم وصولاً إلى غاية واحدة تتمثل في تحقيق الوحدة الوطنية وضرورة التمسك بها، فضلاً عن متناصاتها وبناؤها المغاير وما تستلهمه من قصص العرب ورواياتهم وأخبارهم والتاريخ وسيره من أهم الأسباب وراء اختبار هذه الرواية للدراسة.
وقد قام البحث هيكله على خمسة فصول سبقتها مقدمة وتلتها خاتمة.
