استمسكت أمة الإسلام من تُراثها بالعُروة الوثقى، وحافظت عليه، واستنارت بهداه، فكانت - وما زالت - خير أمة أُخرجت للناس، بقي نسبها إلى دينها صحيحاً موصولاً، وما زالت أسانيدها إلى نبيها صلى الله عليه وسلم سلاسل من ذَهَب، تحكي الحق، وتهدي إلى البر، وتُقيم الحضارة الشاملة المتوازنة المِعْطاء، التي تملأ الأرض عدلاً وإحساناً، وتُفْعِم القلب صِدقاً وإيماناً.
ورسالة "أبي عبد الرحمن النَّسَائي في تسمية شيوخه حَلقة من تلك السِّلْسلة العظيمة المترابطة، ولَبِنة في ذاك البناء الشامخ المحكم، بعظمة ما تحمله هذه الأمة، وما تختص به من خَلاَق وحِبَاء؛ وتبرز أهمية هذه الرسالة في موضوعها الذي يدل عليه اسمها، ويزداد الإعجاب بها عند معرفة وصفها، فضلاً عن الوقوف عليها، وتتألق مكانتها من خِلال حِلْية مؤلفها: الإمام البارع العَلَم، وبذل المحقق في خدمتها الجُهْد، وتوخَّى القَصْد وهو النهج المعتدل.
