تثبت هذه الفتوى الشرعية بالنصوص الصحيحة وكلام العلماء وما تقتضيه قواعد الشريعة أن تصوير نبينا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم أو غيره من الأنبياء عليهم الصلاة والسلام؛ حرام منهي عنه، يجب إنكاره، سواء أكانت تلك الصورة لكامل الجسد الشريف أم لبعضه، وسواء أكانت بالرسم باليد أو آلة أخرى على ورق أو لوح أو ثوب أو غيره، أو بنسج في ثوب، أو صنع تمثال ذي ظل، أو أخذ صورة فوتوغرافية عن شيء من ذلك، أو تصوير مرئي تلفزيوني ونحوه. وأن اقتناء صورة يزعم أنها للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أو لغيره من الأنبياء عليهم الصلاة والسلام؛ حرام أيضاً يجب إنكاره، فعلى من رأي مثل ذلك المبادرة إلى إتلافه قدر طاقته؛ اقتداءً به صلى الله عليه وسلم في محوه صور بعض الأنبياء التي كانت في الكعبة، وعلى أولياء أمور المسلمين ومسؤوليهم منع انتشار ذلك.
