تفسير مهم مختصر، اختصر فيه مؤلفه كتاب يحيى بن سلام في تفسير القرآن فحذف منه التكرار وبعض الزوائد التي يقوم علم التفسير بدونها، مما يسهل فهم الكتاب على الدارسين. كذلك أضاف المؤلف بعض الزيادات الضرورية من غير "كتاب يحيى" واتبع ذلك كثيراً من الإعراب واللغة.
ومصنف هذا التفسير هو أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله بن أبي زمنين المدى البيري، أصله من العدوة من نفزة تفقه بقرطبة عند أبي إبراهيم، وسمع منه، ومن وهب بن مسرة، وابن الجزار القروي، وابن المشاط، وسمع من أبي، ومحمد بن قاسم بن هلال.
حدث عنه أبو زكريا القلعي، وأبو عمر بن الحذاء، وحكم بن محمد، وهشام بن سوار، والقاضي يونس.
