الزواج في الإسلام عقد مبارك بين الرجل والمرأة، يحلّ به كلٌّ منها للآخر، ويبدآن به رحلة الحياة الطويلة، متحابين متعاونين متآلفين متسامحين، يسكن كل منهما إلى الآخر، فيجد في صحبته السكينة والأنس والأمن والطمأنينة ولذّة العيش. وقد صوّر القرآن الكريم هذه العلاقة الشرعية السامية بين الرجل والمرأة تصويراً رائقاً شفيفاً، يشيع فيه ندى المحبة والألفة والثقة والتفاهم والرحمة، ويفوح منه عبير الودّ والسعادة والبهجة والنعيم: (ومن آياته أن خلق لكم من أنفسكم أزواجاً لتسكنوا إليها وجعل بينكم مودة ورحمة). ففي هذه الكلمات القليلة تصوير بارع لعلاقة الجسد وعلاقة الروح في آن.
ولأن الزواج قد يشكل حالة من الرهبة لدى العروسين، وبالتالي يعدّ عائقاً في الولوج في هذا العالم الجديد، لا سيما فيما يتعلق بالقضايا الجنسية والنفسية، كان هذا الكتاب الذي يبحث في الكيفية السليمة التي ينبغي أن تقوم عليها العلاقة الزوجية. ولأن العلاقة الزوجية تقوم على اتصال جسدي وتواصل نفسي، فقد تمّ الاعتناء بكلا الناحيتين في هذا الكتاب، بالانطلاق خلال ذلك كله من النصائح والإرشادات الدينية، مدعّمة بالنصائح والإرشادات العلمية. والغاية تنشئة جيل له معرفة بالعلاقة الزوجية بكل متطلباتها النفسية والجسدية، من منطلق إسلامي، حتى يكون دخول هذا العالم سهلاً عليه ويسيراً لا رهبة فيه ولا ارتباك.
