يسعى هذا الكتاب إلى تدبّر نوع الصلة بين ميشيل فوكو وفريدريتش نيتشه: كيف قرأ فوكو نيتشه؟ وأيّ معنى للقراءة في حديثنا عن "فوكو قارئاً نيتشه"؟.
لقد ارتأينا النظر في مقاربة فوكو لفكر نيتشه ومباحثه الأساسية، من قبيل "التأويل" و"اللغة" و"موت الإله" و"الجينيالوجيا والتاريخ" عند نيتشه، أما في القسم الرابع فإننا نبيّن مقاربة فوكو لمسألة العلاقة بين "الحقيقة والمعرفة والسلطة" في فكر نيتشه، ونتناول بالدرس في القسم الأخير من الكتاب، وعنوانه "في الفكر النقدي"، مسألة حاجة الفلسفة المعاصرة، من منظور فوكو، إلى إحياء "أسلوب فلسفي" قوامه يقظة الفكر النقدي، وذلك صلب حوار مع كانط ونيتشه.
