لقد تطور الأدب العربي، وواكب الأدب العالمي، ولم يقتصر هذا على الشعر، بل امتد إلى سائر الفنون، ومنها الفن الروائي الذي نشأ عربياً بشكلانية غربية واضحة، ثم تمدد، حتى ترسخ، لتكون النصوص الروائية العربية ذات تميز، فسردت البيئة العربية، وقدمت الإنسان العربي: شخصية وثقافة، وهموماً، وأحلاماً، وإحباطات وعبرت فيما عبرت عن حساسية الأديب العربي الجديدة التي تشربها من رؤى الحداثة، ومن ثم تطورت الحساسية، لتنتقل إلى ما بعد الحداثة، وهي نقلة أقل ما يقال فيها: إنها تعيد قراءة الحداثة العربية المعاصرة، وتطرح الأسئلة حول مشاريعها وخططها، ونتائجها، من خلال ما يرصده، الأديب في وطنه، في أصعدة عدة، أولها ذاته، وآخرها هويته.
في ضوء ما تقدم، تأتي هذه الدراسة، ساعية لقراءة تجليات ما بعد الحداثة، في الرواية العربية الجديدة (الصادرة خلال العقد الأخير)، وقد وقع اختيار المؤلف على خمس روايات، من ثلاثة أقطار عربية، رأى الباحث أنها تعبر بشكل أو بآخر عن رؤى ما بعد الحداثة، وهي في مجملها تدين ما وصل إليه العرب، وتعبر عن أزمة الإنسان العربي، وضياع الإنتماء، والإحساس بالدونية في الوطن، وغياب الهوية الجامعة، وسيادة الفردية والنرجسية.
وقد جاءت خطة الدراسة على محورين: الأول: تمهيد نظري عن الحداثة الفلسفة والطرح، ثم ما بعد الحداثة، منظوراً ومراجعات ومقارنات، وعلاقتهما بالسرد الروائي، ثم جاءت الدراسة التطبيقية متناولة خمس روايات وهي: الفصل الأول: رواية قلاع ضامرة: تهاوي قلاع الإيديولوجيا للروائي عبد الرحمن حلاق، الفصل الثاني: رواية الصمت والصخب: الجسد آلية للتعبير والإستلاب والرفض للروائي السوري نهاد سويس، الفصل الثالث: وطن من زجاج: تهشم الذات والهوية والوطن للروائية الجزائرية ياسمينة صالح، الفصل الرابع: رواية أحلام محرمة: وئد الحلم القومي وإنزواء المثقف للروائي محمود حامد، الفصل الخامس: رواية إنفجار جمجمة: موت المثقف وإنكشاف الزيف - الروائي إدريس علي.
