خليل عبد الكريم (1930 - 14 أبريل 2002) كان كاتباً مصرياً ليبرالياً يوصف بأنه كاتب وقد ألف كتب كثيرة حول تاريخ الإسلام وخاصة الفترات الأولى منه. ولد خليل عبد الكريم وتوفي في محافظة أسوان في جنوب مصر،درس القانون في جامعة فؤاد الأول (جامعة القاهرة حالياً) وتخرج منها سنة 1951.عمل عبد الكريم محامياً وقضي أغلب حياته في القاهرة في حي الدقي، كما كان يعمل في حي بولاق الدكرور. كان خليل محامياً مشهوداً له بالكفاءة، كان قد قام بالدفاع عن زميله نصر حامد أبو زيد عندما أتهم بالكفر واضطر أن يدافع عن كتبه وأفكاره أمام المحكمة.
خليل عبد الكريم كان أيضا ناشطًا وعضوًا في حزب التجمع الوطني التقدمي الوحدوي اليساري لكن كانت خلفيته شيوعية مثل أغلب أعضاء الحزب، على العكس من ذلك، كان خليل يظهر أن له خلفية إسلامية وزعم أنه كان عضواً في جماعة الإخوان المسلمين وأنه سجن مرتين بسبب انتمائه لها. كان عبد الكريم يدعي أنه يمثل الروح الحقيقية للجماعة حينما يمزج بين الإسلام الليبرالي والعدالة الاجتماعية على العكس من القادة الحاليين الذين يصبون همهم على تطبيق الشريعة على حد تعبيره.
توفي في محافظة القاهرة و كانت وصيته ان يدفن في مسقط رأسه، حيث نقل جثمانه الي محافظة أسوان تنفيذا لها. وقد رَدَّ عليه كثيرٌ من الكُتَّاب المعاصرين ، مثل الأستاذ إبراهيم عوض ومصطفى باحو وغيرهما، وله حلقات في قنوات أجنبية صرح فيها بإلحاده وأنه كان يحاول موازنة كلماته حتى يحافظ على حياته.
