الدكتور يوسف الحوراني كان وفياً للأرض التي أنبتته، كان وفياً لها، لأن الوفاء خصلة من خصاله، والذين عرفوه عرفوا وفاءه المحض، فلم يفاجؤوا بأن خص جبل عامل بالدراسة التاريخية التي اقتضته الجهد المضني، فأبرز صفحات من تاريخ الجبل لم تجد قبله من يكشف عنها، وكان من حقها أن تبرز وتعرف، صفحات تتعدى في معارفها حدود الجبل لتربط بين تاريخه وتاريخ ما امتد منه إلى البعيد البعيد...
لقد حاولت-والكتاب بين يدي-أن أضع أمام قارئ هذه الكلمة بعض روائع الكتاب، فحرت في اختيار ما آخذ وما أدع، لذلك صممت على أن أترك للقارئ أن يوغل في الكتاب صفحة صفحة ليجد في كل صفحة ما يبعث في نفسه التقدير للجهد الذي بذله هذا المؤرخ البعيد الغور، وليقرأ في كل فصل جديداً من تاريخ بلاده، يجد حلاً لما غمض من أسماء ومواقع.
وإذا كان اسم الكتاب يوحي بأنه تسجيل لتاريخ منطقة محدودة من مناطق الوطن الكبير، فهو في حقيقته وفيما يعطي، إنما يسجل صفحات تاريخ لما امتد وانتشر من مناطق بعيدة ولكنها مهما بعدت في مواقعها فهي تقرب في ارتباطها التاريخي ومجراها الزمني.
وبعد، فإن خير ما نزجيه للدكتور يوسف الحوراني من تحية هي أن نقول له: إننا بانتظار كل جديد منك...ذا كان اسم الكتاب يوحي بأنه تسجيل لتاريخ منطقة محدودة من مناطق الوطن الكبير، فهو في حقيقته وفيما يعطي، إنما يسجل صفحات تاريخ لما امتد وانتشر من مناطق بعيدة ولكنها مهما بعدت في مواقعها فهي تقرب في ارتباطها التاريخي ومجراها الزمني.
