هذا الكتاب يروي قصة الطائف منذ ولادة نصوصه الأولى مروراً بمسرح أحداثه وصولاً إلى أبرز نتائجه متمثلة بانتخاب رئيسين للجمهورية هما الرئيس الراحل رينيه معوّض ومن ثم الرئيس إلياس الهراوي، انتهاءً بأبرز استحقاقاته يوم 13 تشرين الأول 1990: من دون أن أنسى تسليط الضوء على حقبة مهمة سبقت ولادة الاتفاق ألا وهي المراسلات الإصلاحية بين الرئيس أمين الجميل، عشية انتهاء ولايته الدستورية، وبين المسؤولين السوريين، وخطوت تعطيل الانتخابات الرئاسية في نهاية عهده وبعده.
