يتوجه هذا الكتاب إلى الأهل، إنما في الوقت نفسه إلى كل إنسان مهتم بتربية الأولاد. حيث يهدف إلى مساعدتهم على فهم المشاكل التي يتعرض إليها الأطفال من قلة الانتباه والتركيز، كما يهدف إلى تقديم أفضل الحلول إليهم لمعالجة هذه المشاكل وذلك من خلال أمثلة وتجارب من واقع الحياة اليومية.
إضافة إلى ذلك، يسعى لمساعدتهم على التخلص من الشعور بالذنب عندما يرون أطفالهم أمام أعينهم يعانون من بعض المشاكل ولا يعرفون كيفية تقديم المساعدة لهم.
إن المشاكل الناتجة عن قلة انتباه الأطفال كثيرة وتصيب عدداً كبيراً من الأولاد، إنما بدرجات مختلفة أهمها ثلاثة: الدرجة الخفيفة، ويقدم لهذا النوع من المشاكل بعض النصائح فقط للوالدين، والدرجة المتوسطة، حيث يفضل استشارة الأخصائيين (كالأطباء النفسيين أو أخصائي تقويم النطق...) والدرجة الأهم، الدرجة العليا التي يتطلب بشكل ضروري مساعدة خارجية والقيام للعض الفحوصات والإختبارات واستشارة الأخصائيين.
في الدرجة الخفيفة، الوالدان هما فقط من يستطيع تقديم المساعدة لأولادهما، إنما في الحالات الأخرى، فمن الأفضل استشارة أخصائيين بالإضافة طبعاً إلى النصائح المتوفرة في هذا الكتاب. وسيجدون في هذا الكتاب قصصاً للأطفال "اللذين يعانون من قلة الانتباه" والتي يمكن استعمالها كمرجع فتساعدهم على معالجة المشكلة ومساعدة أطفالهم.
