اجتمع لدى المسلمين من هائل من الدراسات والبحوث الفقهية التي صنفها العلماء لهداية المسلمين إلى أمور دينهم ودنياهم وقد تعددت مناهج المسلمين وطرقهم في تحصيل قواعد الدين وأصوله فابتكروا فنوناً وقواعد لا يستغني عنها الفقيه الذي يريد الإحاطة بفروع الفقه وقضاياه.
وفي هذا الباب يندرج هذا الكتاب الذي صنفه الحافظ صلاح الدين خليل الشافعي الذي أراد أن يجمع في هذا الكتاب ما تيسر له الوصول إليه من "المسائل المخرجة على قواعد أصول الفقه ومن المسائل المتشابهة في المعنى والتي يرجع فيها الخلاف إلى أصل واحد أو ينظر إحداهما بالأخرى".
وهو كتاب لم ينسج على منواله المتقدمون، وكان باعثه على جمع هذا الكتاب ما وقف عليه من تعليق في هذا المعنى للعلاقة صدر الدين المرجل وما تضمنه كتب أخرى من اللطائف المحققة واعتمد في كل ذلك الاختصار والإشارة إلى رؤوس المسائل دون الاحتجاج وتقرير الدلائل.
وقد عمد المحققان إلى العمل على المخطوطة الأصيلة للكتاب وقاما بنسخها وفق قواعد الإملاء الحديثة، وقواعد الإعراب، ثم قابلاً عملهما بالنسخ الأخرى المتوفرة، وأثبتا الفروق في الهوامش وقاما إضافة إلى ذلك بذكر موضع الآيات من القرآن الكريم سورة ورقماً وخرجاً الأحاديث النبوية الشريفة من كتب السنة المعتمدة، وخرجا الأشعار التي استشهد بها المؤلف ووصفا تراجم موجزة للإعلام الوارد ذكرهم في المتن وعرفا بالقبائل والأماكن والإعلام والكلمات والمصطلحات الغريبة الغامضة.
ثم صنفا القواعد والفصول بعنوان في أول الصفحة أو وسطها، وقد جاء عملهما في قسمين القسم الأول حوى التعريف بالمؤلف ودراسة عن الكتاب وتعريفاً بمنهج المحقق وحواشيه، أما القسم الثاني فهو خاص بالنص المحقق وحواشيه.
