في عملها هذا تتناول الدكتورة "منيرة عبد الرحمن عامر الرميح" دراسة مظاهر الحضارة في إقليم إشبيلية في الأندلس من منتصف القرن الثالث الهجري/ التاسع الميلادي إلى أواخر القرن الخامس الهجري/ الحادي عشر الميلادي.
تأتي أهمية هذه الدراسة من كونها تكشف ما تميز به إقليم إشبيلية خلال تلك الفترة من سمات حضارية متميزة، تخللتها تطورات حضارية واضحة في كثير من مظاهر الحياة، فدراسة التاريخ الإقتصادي والإجتماعي والثقافي لإقليم إشبيلية يكشف التطور الذي واكب المجتمع الإشبيلي في ظل السياسة الإسلامية التي بدأت بأمراء بني أمية، ثم ما أضافه بنو حجاج وما استحدثته الخلافة الأموية من نظم في هذه المجالات ..
وفي هذا السياق تلقي الكاتبة الأضواء على ما طرأ على إقليم إشبيلية من التغيرات السياسية وخاصة الأسر الحاكمة، وما كان لكل أسرة من هذه الأسر من سياسة مغايرة في إدارة شؤون البلاد أثرت على السياسة الإقتصادية والحياة الإجتماعية والثقافية في إشبيلية.
لأجل ذلك توزعت الدراسة إلى تمهيد، وأربعة أبواب، وخاتمة:
أما التمهيد فتناولت فيه الكاتبة الإضطرابات السياسية التي تعرضت لها بلاد الأندلس منذ النصف الثاني من القرن الثالث الهجري وأثر ذلك على أوضاع البلاد السياسية.
وفي الباب الأول: تناولت دراسة الموقع الجغرافي لإقليم إشبيلية وأهم المدن والقرى، والمقومات الطبيعية، فضلا عن السكان وأحوالهم.
وفي الباب الثاني: تناولت دراسة النشاط الإقتصادي، فدرست الحياة الزراعية، والصناعات والحرف، والتجارة.
وأما الباب الثالث: فتناولت فيه دراسة الحياة الإجتماعية من حيث عناصر السكان والطبقات الإجتماعية، والمنشآت الدينية والإجتماعية، .. ودور المرأة في الحياة الإجتماعية في إشبيلية.
وفي الباب الرابع والأخير: تناولت الكاتبة دراسة الحياة الثقافية في إقليم إشبيلية، وتركزت الدراسة على أهم المراكز الثقافية والرحلات العلمية وأهم العلوم النقلية والعقلية في الإقليم، وأشهر العلماء، وأهم مصنفاتهم.
