الأكيد أن اللغة تمثل الإختراع المذهل لدى الإنسان، وقد كان من الطبيعي أن يهتم بها على مستوى البحث والمقاربة، وفي ضوء هذا الإهتمام اتضح أن اللغة ذات الوظيفة المزدوجة (وظيفة التمثل ووظيفة التواصل)، لا يمكن إختزالها في بعد دون آخر.
فبالإضافة إلى بعدها التمثلي المبني على المعالجة اللسانية المستقلة عن السياق، فهي في واقع الأمر تبقى مشروطة ببعد تداولي هو الذي يؤكد مشروعية الطابع التواصلي لملفوظاتها وخطاباتها المحملة بالغايات والمقاصد والأهداف.
لكن ما المقصود بنظرية الإنسان الذهنية حول اللغة عامة وحول مكوناتها اللسانية المتمثلة بالخصوص في الكلمات والجمل والنصوص بحروفها وأسمائها وأفعالها وصفاتها المختلفة، إذا كانت الإجابة على هذا السؤال وبصورة خاصة في جزئه الأخير، تشكل محور هذا الكتاب الذي يقارب موضوع التمدرس ونمو نظرية الطفل الذهنية حول عينة من الأفعال اللغوية، فإن السيكولوجيا المعرفية المحكومة بنظرية النظريات تمثل الميدان المرجعي الذي يندرج فيه هذا الموضوع.
بمعنى السيكولوجيا التي تسلم بقابلية السيرورات المعرفية عامة واللغوية خاصة للدراسة العلمية وبتدرجها النمائي المسترسل الذي لا تتخلله أية مراحل كونية ثابتة أو جامدة، فهي تُقرُّ بإمتلاك الطفل منذ سن مبكر لمعارف ونظريات تهم حتى الآن ميادين الفيزياء والبيولوجيا والسيكولوجيا.
في إطار هذا السياق جاء هذا المؤلف الذي تتلخص إشكاليته المركزية في محاولة إبراز مظاهر نمو هذه النظرية عند الطفل بالتزامن مع تَكَوُّن رصيده المعجمي، ليراهن على بيان منظور هذا الأخير للذهن كنظام تمثلي لمكونات العالم والإنسان على حد سواء، ومدى كفاءته في إستخدام الأفعال اللغوية ذات الطابع المعرفي وفهمها وإنتاجها.
وبالتالي، الدفاع عن فكرة التواجد المبكر لتلك النظرية والدور الفعال للمدرسة في تنميتها وتطويرها والإنتقال بها من طابعها الساذج إلى طابعها العلمي.
