يعد كتاب "بحار الأنوار" من الكتب التي اكتسبت الخلود في تاريخ مصنفات الأمامية، ومن الواضح أن بقاء أي أثر من الآثار في حياة الأمة، له أسبابه وعوامله، سواء من جهة الأثر نفسه، أو من جهة من ينتسب إليه الأثر.. وهذا الأثر الذي بين أيدينا، يستقي روافد الخلود من تلك الجهتين: فمن ناحية كان المؤلف من الذين تصدروا سلسلة العلماء؛ الذين قاموا بدور متميز كحصن من حصون السلام: سواء بسلوكه العملي، أيام تصديه لمنصب مشيخة الإسلام في أصفهان، أو بسلوكه العبادي، أو في ترويجه لمعارف أهل البيت عليهم السلام بما أوتي من قدرة.. ومن ناحية أخرى فإن هذا الكتاب الذي يعد أوسع مجموعة حديثية عند الأمامية، حوى أصنافا من درر الأخبار، مبوبة تبويبا فريدا، بلغت أكثر من 2500 بابا، وذلك في عصر لم يكن الوصول فيه إلى المصادر أمرا ميسورا، ولا ينبغي أن نغفل عن ما أورده المجلسي في طيات كتابه، من تحقيقات قيّمة، وبيانات شافية، تنم على ذوق سليم في فهم الروايات. ولأهمية هذا الكتاب اعتنى الشيخ "حبيب الكاظمي" باستخراج نص الكتاب وإعداده في هذه الطبعة التي بين أيدينا، وبالرجوع إلى نطاق عمله نجد أنه اهتم بما يلي: أولا:
