"نتبت في عتمة انكشفت للفؤوس، وانبثقت منك صبح فكفك الندى عن زهرك القمصان ليطلق الصمت نوافيره شتى، تحرث الأعماث نيران، وتغرف الليالي فجرها من راحة المكان.تغير التراب، امحت ينابيع، ونحن واقفان وارفان: على مسامنا نوافذ الغصون، في أكفنا غرائز الجذور، واتجاه النسغ أنا واحدان: يكرر النبات في الصخر خطانا، تنسج الأنهار ما نغرى له، وعالياً يصفق الرعد إذا ما أتقنت صدقتنا غمامتان. الناي عادة عناقنا: حفيف يوقظ تقطر الزمان: طفلين حافيين، يرقيان التل ينثران في الريح الدفاتر يدحرجان في الوادي الصدى، ويمزجان الأرض بالأغصان، ثم يعودان ملطخين بالتوت: على لسانه نعاس نحلة، وفوق صدرها البليل جمرتان. ليلاً إذا خبت وصايا الأهل، أغمضت ملائكة أكتافهما، ووشوش البدر البذور، يصحوان: تقلب الوسادة ليكمل منامها، وينسل إلى البستان كي ينقش الحرفين: همزة رهيفة كالسهم، باء ثرة كفلقة الرمان".
