لقد اصطفى الله سبحانه وتعالى رسوله الكريم، وأعده إعداداً كاملاً ليتحمل أسمى رسالة، فأنزل علي نبيه كتاباً لا يأتيه الباطل من بين يديه ولا من خلفه. وقد حث الله المسلمين على اقتفاء آثار النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم واتباع سنته، وجعل هذا الاتباع شرطاً في الظفر بحب الله، ولقد حثّ النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم على اتباع سنته، ولقد عرف الصحابة والتابعون مدى الخير العميم الفياض من الاستمساك بهذه السنن كغاية لهم، وقوة لشأنهم، فحرضوا الناس على الحرص عليها، ومعانقتها في حبّ وإخلاص، لئلا يفشلوا أو تذهب ريحهم. ولما كان واجباً على كل مسلم التمسك بالسنة النبوية الشريفة، كان لزاماً علينا معرفة حقوق المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم، فجاء كتاب "الشفا بتعريف حقوق المصطفى" وهو من خير الكتب التي عرفت بحقوق المصطفى، فقد أحاط بصفات الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم وما يجب له من حقوق، وقد اعتمد المؤلف في ذلك كله على الآيات القرآنية، والأحاديث النبوية، يؤيد بها رأيه، مستدلاً من آراء المفسرين والمحدثين والفقهاء فيما جاء به. وقد اعتنى شهاب الدين أحمد بن محمد بن عمر فقام بهذا الكتاب، حيث قام بشرحه والتعليق عليه.
