ومن هنا، تأتي أهمية دراسة الجرائم الإقتصادية في هذه الدول ولا سيما في العراق، لكونها أكثر إلتصاقاً بطبيعة التحولات الإقتصادية والسياسية والإجتماعية وسياسات الإصلاح التي من المفترض أن يشهدها العراق.
لقد لجأ العديد من دول لحماية إقتصادها الوطني الذي يعد في العالم اليوم ضرورة حياة شعوب هذه الدول، إلى تجريم كل فعل أو إمتناع يقع بمخالفة للقوانين الإقتصادية في كل دولة ويتفاوت نطاق التجريم وشدة العقوبة حسب نوع وأهمية المصلحة الإقتصادية المعتدى عليها، فكلما اتسع نطاق المصلحة الإقتصادية توسعت معها دائرة التجريم وكلما زادت أهمية هذه المصلحة في الدولة كانت عقوبتها على درجة كبيرة من الصرامة، هكذا تختلف وتتعد صور الجرائم الإقتصادية بإختلاف السياسة الإقتصادية العامة في الدولة.
