تحت عنوان "يا أهل العالم هذا هو الحسين عليه السلام" يسلط الأستاذ محمد سعيد المخزومي الضوء على مكانة الإمام الحسين عليه السلام في الإسلام، ودوره في إبراز كلمة الحق والعدل، باعتبار أنه، شهيدُ أمة حيّة حضارية أسسها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم. ولهذا يوضح المؤلف موقف الأمة من شخص الإمام، للقول بما يتوجب عليها "من امتثال أمره، وطاعته، ومحبته، والتودد إليه، وحمايته والدفاع عنه".
في ضوء ما سبق، يقود البحث مؤلفه إلى الحديث عن عظمة المأساة التي تعرّض إليها الإمام الشهيد، والتي كانت تمثل برأيه جرحاً عميقاً في وجدان الإنسان وخصوصاً المؤمن بالإمام، والعارف به، مع ملاحظة المؤلف "أن ما يعبّر به المؤمنون بالإمام الحسين عليه السلام والعارفون به، هو أقل التحليل مما تستحقه ردة الفعل للتعبير عن عمق الجرح ...". ولهذا يأتي الكتاب ليكشف عن هذا الجرح البالغ في وجدان الأمة المؤمنة بالإمام، وتسليط للضوء تجاه ما وقع عليه من ظلم، وتشكيك بمشروعه التغييري من البعض، ليلخص المؤلف إلى نتيجة يقول فيها "أن ما يعرف الإمام الحسين عليه السلام وسمو أخلاقه وعظمة شخصيته وحضارية منهجه، يلتصق به إلى حد التعبد بكلماته، والتشبث بمشروعه والتمسك بمنهاجه، فيتفاعل معه ومع مأساته وحجم تضحياته، فيتبين لنا معنى التفسير الحق لحجم الإحتجاج الذي يعبّر به المؤمنون عما جرى على الإمام الحسين عليه السلام في شعورهم ومشاعرهم وشعائرهم".
لأن الخطب جليل، والجرح عميق، وقد نصبت الأمة عداوتها للحسين وأهله، وتنكر العالم له، حتى توحشت الدول والحكومات ضده، فلم يبق لولي أمر دمه الشريف إلا أن يندبه صباحاً ومساءً، ثم يبكيه بدل الدموع دماً.
