في هذا الكتاب يكشف فوزي شعيبي المسؤول في الشعبة الثانية في سورية قبل قيام الوحدة بين سوريية ومصر، وفي المخابرات العامة بعد قيام الوحدة بين القطرين (1955-1967) الكثير من أسرار تلك المرحلة ويصوب بعض ما كتب ويضيء على محطات هامة من تاريخ سورية في تلك الفترة بداية من لقائه الأول مع عبد الحميد السراج وخدمته معه مروراً بـ"مؤامرة حلف بغداد" ونسف أنابيب ومحطات النفط في سورية في عهد الرئيس شكري القوتلي إلى تفاصيل شبكة تجسس مرجعيون وإعدام أعضائها إلى الوحدة بين مصر وسورية وتداعياتها إلى مقتل فرج الله الحلو إلى الانفصال وصولاً إلى حرب 1967 وتنحي الرئيس عبد الناصر عن الحكم ثم عودته عن الاستقالة وانتحار المشير عبد الحكيم عامر.
"شاهد من المخابرات السورية" ليس كتاب تاريخ فحسب بل هو كاشف على الكثير من المعلومات والتفاصيل السياسية والأمنية والألغاز التي لا تزال تحيط بأحداث تلك الفترة من تاريخ سورية والمنطقة وينطبق على ما فيه من معلومات القول: "وشهد شاهد من أهلها".
