يتطلع هذا الكتاب إلى تغيير زاوية النّظر إلى التّجربة الإباضيّة بإعتبارها وجهاً من أوجه التعدّد الثّقافي والأنتروبولوجي في الفكر الإسلامي.
وهذا الكتاب هو مقاربة في خضم مقاربات تنزع إلى الإبتعاد عن رصد هذه التّجربة في مرآة الآخر، ومن ثمّة الوقوع في شرك إعادة إنتاج المعنى الذي كرّسه الخطاب الأرثوذكسي القديم حول "المختلف عنه".
تقتضي الموضوعيّة العلميّة تحليل الخطاب الإباضيّ ذاته وتفكيك أبعاده السّياسيّة والكشف عن مرجعياته العقديّة والتاريخيّة.
ذلك أنّ من المميّزات الأنثروبولوجيّة الثقافيّة للأقليات في ظلّ الإقصاء الذي تتعرّض له، المحافظة على إستمرارية "التّراث" المكوّن لهويتها والضامن لتميّزها، ومن ثمّة فهي الأقدر في تقديرنا على الإعراب عن حقيقة إختيارها الذي رجّحته لنفسها.
لقد كانت التّجربة الإباضيّة تتشكّل عبر مسارها التّاريخي والحضاري، وتُراكم الوعي بذاتها وبغيرها في أتون الصّراع، وتُنشئ لها مرجعيّة فكرية متفرّدة تسند إختياراتها السّياسيّة والعقديّة بالإحتجاج والتّبرير إزاء حضور الآخر او بالبسط والشّرح إزاء الأتباع.
والنّاظر في المدوّنة الإباضيّة يدرك أنّ رؤاهم السّياسيّة والحضاريّة غزيرة في مؤلفاتهم، وقد لا تتيسّر الإحاطة بها، لذلك فإنّ سعينا سيتّجه قدر الإمكان إلى تخيّر نماذج من الفكر الإباضي في تجلّياته السّياسيّة والحضاريّة.
