هذا الكتاب موسوعة تاريخية كبرى عن دائرة المعارف الماسونية، قدّمه مؤلفه (وايم الحق) في طبعته الأولى (1961م) إلى جميع السلطات الماسونية في الدول الحرة، يحاول من خلاله بيان الهدف من هذه المنظمة ومبادئها ويكشف عن فضائلها وأسرارها وتعاليمها على أنها يقظةً دافعة للخير، وفي هذا يقول: "أجل، هذا ما نراه في محافلنا، ومقاماتنا، ومجالسنا، فمجلسنا السامي المثالي، وسر الفضل فيما نراه، يرجع إلى مبادئ الماسونية السامية، وأخصها المثالية، التي يرفع عن عقول الناس، زخرف الدنيا وتمويها، ثم توقفهم مواقف الحق، فإذا أهلها يتآخون ويتساندون، ويتساون تحت لواء الحرية... الماسونية المثالية، تعتمد في أمرها، على مثلث الحق: الخلق الكريم، والعقل الحكيم، والقلب السليم...".
وبناءً على ما تقدم يتتبع الكتاب تطور الفكرة الماسونية، حتى أصبحت جمعية سرية أو لغز غامض، مع الإشارة إلى دورها الذي لعبته - وما تزال - في تطور البشرية، بكل جرأة وإقدام... كما يكشف الكتاب عن أبرز رموز الماسونية في العالم القديم والحديث، وأعداء البنائين الأحرار (الماسونيين) ومعلومات عن المحفل الأكبر الوطني اللبناني السوري وأبرز قادته في النصف الأول من القرن العشرين، ووثائق هامة وخطابات على الطريقة الماسونية.
