معجم الكيلاني لمصطلحات الكومبيوتر والإنترنت في طبعته المجددة والموسعة يواكب تطور العلوم الكمبيوترية والإنترنت المتسارع والمتنامي وهو يضم نيفاً وخمسة عشر ألف مصطلح ومختصر علمي تغطي أقساماً متنوعة من عمل الحاسبات الإلكترونية ومجالات استخدامها، فهو مفيد في طرف معالجة البيانات وبرمجتها، وفي إدارة الأعمال والسكرتارية في المحاسبة (والفوترة) وفي المصارف والشركات التجارية، وفي مراكز الاتصال السلكية واللاسلكية وفي المدارس الثانوية والمعاهد والجامعات. وكذلك فإنه مفيد لرجال الأعمال وللمبرمجين وللعاملين على أجهزة الكمبيوتر ومهندسيها وللمدربين على أنظمة الكمبيوتر وأجزائها المختلفة وللباحثين في علم الكمبيوتر، كما إنه مرجع مهم لمن يريد معرفة تهجئة ومعنى واستخدام بعض المصطلحات المبرمجة وطرق اختصارها، حيث تم شرح معاني المصطلحات بطريقة سهلة مختصرة وواضحة بعيدة عن التعقيدات اللغوية والفنية. وبناءً عليه يعتبر هذا المعجم مرجعاً مفيداً وشاملاً للمصطلحات العلمية للحاسبات الإلكترونية وما يتبعها من أنشطة برمجية أخرى.
يقتصر هذا المعجم على المدخلات المتعلقة بتكنولوجيا الحاسبات الإلكترونية ومجالات استخدامها العامة والخاصة في الحياة اليومية وقد أعطى المعنى الإنجليزي بجانب المعنى العربي وذلك لجعل المعنى العام للمصطلح العلمي أكثر دقة ووضوحاً مما يوفر على القارئ العربي مشقة البحث في مراجع أخرى سعياً وراء مفاهيم أكثر وضوحاً، وفي غالب الحالات يطابق الشرح العربي التفسير الإنجليزي للمصطلح مطابقة شبه تامة-اللهم إلا في بعض الحالات التي تستدعي شرحاً أوفى لبعض المصطلحات الأساسية وأهميتها حيث يكون المعنى الإنجليزي مختصراً إلى حد ما، وقد وضع هذا الشرح الإضافي بين أقواس للدلالة على أنه خارج عن النص الأساسي.
أما بخصوص المصطلحات والمداخلات الأساسية فقد تم شرح معانيها شرحاً وافياً. وهذه ميزة فريدة لهذا المعجم تجعله مرجعاً علمياً معتمداً في علم الحاسبات إلكترونية وتضعه في مصنف الموسوعات العلمية.
