يسعى هذا الكتاب لما نصبو إليه في تقديم مدخل للثقافة الإسلامية، وأساسيات من منهج الحياة التي نعيشها وفق إحتياجاتنا كمسلمين دينياً ودنيوياً، التمستاها من منهج الإسلام الذي هو معيار أصالتنا ونورنا الهادي للخير والسلام والمحبة، فانتظم في ثماني وحدات، الوحدة الأولى: تناولت مفهوم الثقافة الإسلامية وخصائصها، والوحدة الثانية: بينت مصادر الثقافة الإسلامية، والوحدة الثالثة: في العقيدة الإسلامية، والوحدة الرابعة: الشريعة ومفهومها وخصائصها، والوحدة الخامسة: الأخلاق، والسادسة: الحضارة الإسلامية، والسابعة: في النظام الإجتماعي في الإسلام، الثامنة: في تحدي الحداثة.
وقد كان كدّنا في هذا الكتاب أن يكون ملبياً إلى تزويد طلبتنا الأعزاء بمفاهيم أساسية تتعلق بقضايا الأمة، وتستمد مقوماتها من الدين الإسلامي الذي يدفعنا اليوم أكثر مما مضى إلى الأخذ بأسباب العلم والتقدم المادي والروحي والفكري، وأن نكون على وعي تام بالمرحلة التي نعيشها والتي تقتضي منا الوعي القافي والفهم الصحيح للإسلام، كي نزن المعارف والمواقف بعيداً عن الغلو والتعصب والإنحراف، ونحصن النفس من الأهواء والمعتقدات الفاسدة والمتطرفة التي تسيء لنا ولمجتمعنا وحضارتنا، وقبل كل ذلك عقيدتنا الإسلامية والتحديات التي نعيشها.
من هنا، جاء إعداد الكتاب متوخياً العبارة السهلة، وتحديد المصطلحات المتصلة بالإسلام، ولا ندعي بهذا الجهد المتواضع الكمال، فالكمال لله وحده، آملين ممن يجد فيه زللاً أن يصلحه، أو يعينننا على إصلاحه، فكل جهد إنساني غير مبرء من العيوب وجوانب القصور، لكننا نأمل أن نكون قد اقتربنا بهذا الجهد مما ينفع طلبتنا، ويحقق الأهداف المرجوة من دراسة هذا المساق الذي اتبعنا فيه ما يجيب على أسئلة القارئ والطالب الذي هو محورنا، مهيئين له حافز الإستزادة والبحث والإستقصاء، لأن المعرفة ليست لها حدود، قال تعالى: ﴿قُلْ لَوْ كَانَ الْبَحْرُ مِدَاداً لِكَلِمَاتِ رَبِّي لَنَفِدَ الْبَحْرُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنْفَدَ كَلِمَاتُ رَبِّي وَلَوْ جِئْنَا بِمِثْلِهِ مَدَداً (109)﴾ [الكهف: 109].
